Winamp Directsound Drivers For Mac
I get this annoying error every now and then when I'm trying to play audio files on Winamp. Shutting down the software and restarting it makes the issue go away, but eventually it comes back later. Does anyone have any idea of what's causing this? Are you using the motherboard's onboard soundchip, or have you installed a pci/pcie soundcard? And yes, a list of plugins (via the ) could help, as might a log. The first thing to do would be to go to: Winamp 5.65 Prefs (Ctrl+P) Plugins Output DirectSound (outds) config and make sure your sound card/chip is selected via the Output Device drop-down menu. For the onboard chip it would be something like: 02: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) Unchecking 'Allow hardware acceleration' may fix the problem with bad drivers, but may also make you lose support for 5.1+ speaker playback, so it's probably not recommende to uncheck this setting. I see you've switched to using WaveOut Output instead of DirectSound Output (according to your InfoTool log). That's one way of stopping the Direct Sound Driver errors, though note that DirectSound Output needs to be active for features such as: crossfading, fade on stop/pause, multi-speaker output (quad, 5.1, 7.1, etc), gapless playback for files which weren't encoded gaplessly, etc. Were you still getting the DirectSound errors in 5.65 with outds active, and after changing the Output Device to Speakers: High Definition Audio?

Are the FLAC files all 16-bit, 44.1KHz, stereo? Or are they maybe high quality 24-bit, 96KHz? If the latter, then it could be a limitation of your onboard sound chip. Does it only happen whilst simultaneously playing youtube videos? If yes, then what browser are you using? Check to see if there's a Flash Player update available: I was experiencing problems with the previous version of the flash plugin for firefox (where audio would start distorting), but the latest update seems to have fixed it.
